Eraclea Mare

Eraclea Mare is a small seaside resort, 4 km from Eraclea Town, 30 km from Venice Marco Polo Airport, 15 km from Caorle. Eraclea mare stretches along a 6 km long beach. This resort is famous for its magnificent pine grove, with more than 3,500 pine trees line the entire coast. Another bonus is a clean environment. In 2009, Eraclea Mare was declared the most environmentally friendly seaside resort in Italy. The resort is recommended for tourists with bronchitis and asthma. In 2011, the beach ranked among the top five most beautiful beaches in Italy.

Eraclea

Population: 12.200
Eraclea is a small city in the Veneto region in northern Italy, located on the Adriatic coast between the towns of Caorle and Jesolo. The economy is mostly based on agriculture and tourism with its 6 km-long beaches. The name Eraclea was mentioned for the first time officially in 640, two new dioceses were founded: Torcello and Eraclea. About the middle of the 7th century, Eraclea was the biggest town of the estuary and had important business and diplomatic relations both with the Byzantine and the Longobard Court of Pavia. Under the Venice government, Eraclea had an age of splendor. Memorable was the reconquest of the city of Ravenna, under the leadership of the Doge Orso Partecipazio.

Eraclea Beach

Eraclea Beach is the largest beach concession in Eraclea Mare with over 900 beach spaces equipped with new sunbeds and beach umbrellas, safes, a large space between one pitch and another, and a great deal of attention to cleanliness. You can find here modern hot solar showers, bathrooms and changing rooms, free WI-FI, a kids’ area with toys and entertainment. Special attention is paid to the differently-abled, with special beach spaces and rigid walkways that allow them to arrive directly at their beach space. There are also special wheelchairs, that allow users to enter the water directly.

Laguna del Mort

Between Eraclea Mare and Jesolo is the Laguna del Mort Nature Reserve, which is a nesting place for protected birds and offers a view of beautiful nature. Its surface area is 2.1 km². The pinewood around this lagoon has lush vegetation: different kinds of flowers and trees live here. Wildlife is also rich: birds, insects, small mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. There is also a nudist beach in the area, which is still a hot topic for both supporters and opponents. The nudist beach is located in Laguna del Mort a secluded location a few kilometers from Eraclea Mare and is only accessible by foot, bike or boat.

Services

Eraclea Mare is a typical seaside area that comes alive only in the summer season, but many Italian tourists, especially every weekend, come for health walks around the sea. During the winter season, there is no shop, only two cafes and three restaurants, a tobacconist and a butcher shop. Services throughout the year are operated by residential agencies, laundries, hairdressers, barbershop, and pharmacy. During this period only a few dozen permanent residents remain in Eraclea Mare.

Sport activities in area

At the end of Eraclea Mare is a smaller ranch where you can book a horse ride. The beach and the surrounding trails are pleasant for beach volleyball, tennis, cycling, walking, jogging, running, yoga and meditation. In the immediate vicinity of Eraclea Mare, there are several campsites and a water parks. For golf lovers, the golf courses of Caorle and Jesolo are within easy reach walking. 

Winter in Eraclea Mare

In winter, Eraclea Mare also faces bad weather, especially in November. Compared to Venice and other seaside locations, but it is more protected by a lagoon and there is usually no major destruction. However, there is also a loss and destruction of beaches, which are repaired during the early months of the year to give tourists the expected comfort and undisturbed vacation.

How to get to Eraclea Mare

BY PLANE
The “Marco Polo” airport in Venice is at 40 km and the Treviso airport at 50 km. Buses to Eraclea Mare (direct or through San Donà di Piave). The bus stop is in the main street: via Dancalia.

BY TRAIN
The Venice – Trieste line stops in San Donà di Piave which is connected to Eraclea Mare by Bus services. 

BY CAR
The Highway A4 Venezia-Trieste, exit Noventa di Piave/San Donà di Piave. Then follow the signals to Eraclea Mare. It takes only 30 minutes.
