Hu Eraclea Mare 2027: New resort at Laguna del Mort

Between the resort of Eraclea Mare, the mouth of the Piave River, and the protected area of Laguna del Mort, a new tourist complex, hu Eraclea Mare, is being created. Its opening is planned for May 2027. The resort will bring thousands of new accommodation units, a huge water park, sports facilities, restaurants, shops, and more than ten kilometers of walking and cycling routes.

For visitors, this may mean a wider choice of accommodation, new services, and additional ways to spend a holiday in the area. At the same time, however, the question arises whether Eraclea Mare will be able to preserve its peaceful character and protect the nature that is its greatest asset.

Eraclea Mare is among the greenest and quietest resorts on the Venetian coast. The pine forest, long beach, cycle paths, and the nearby Laguna del Mort attract families, cyclists, and travelers looking for relaxation away from the busiest seaside centers. Now, however, this part of the coast is undergoing a significant transformation.

A new chapter for Eraclea Mare

The project in the Valle Ossi area had been in preparation for many years, and construction work began in July 2025. The new hu Eraclea Mare resort is expected to welcome its first guests in May 2027.

The entire area covers approximately 250 hectares. The tourist complex itself will occupy about 100 hectares, while the remaining 150 hectares will be used to create a landscape and rural park, Valle Ossi.

The project will fundamentally transform a previously undeveloped stretch of coastline between Eraclea Mare, the mouth of the Piave, and Laguna del Mort. How the new tourist center will be connected with the existing resort and the surrounding nature will only become fully clear after it opens.

Mobile homes, caravans, and stays with dogs

Hu Eraclea Mare will offer nearly 3,000 accommodation units and pitches. Some will be mobile homes, and some will be designated for caravans, motorhomes, and tents. The total capacity of the complex is expected to reach up to 12,000 visitors per day.

The mobile homes will be intended primarily for families and groups of up to six people. Depending on the chosen type, they will offer two or three bedrooms, a private bathroom, an equipped kitchen, air conditioning, a terrace, and an outdoor shower.

For visitors with their own motorhome, caravan, or tent, pitches of approximately 90-200 m² will be prepared. Their specific facilities will vary depending on the chosen type.

Eraclea Mare is also often sought out by visitors traveling with dogs. At hu Eraclea Mare, pets are welcome, and in selected mobile homes, it is possible, for an extra fee, to accommodate up to two animals.

A separate zone is being prepared for dogs with a run, water areas, a spray park, and places to rest. Showers, drinking-water points, and selected dog-friendly restaurants will also be available.

Water park, sports, and facilities for a family holiday

One of the most prominent parts of the new resort will be a water park covering approximately nine hectares. According to published information, it is to be the largest water park within a tourist resort (villaggio) in Italy.

The water area will offer indoor and outdoor pools, children’s lagoons, water games, and slides. It is to include approximately 15,000 m² of lagoon pools and 40,000 m² of areas intended for sunbathing and relaxation. For the youngest children, shallow lagoons with a soft bottom and a maximum depth of 30 centimeters are being prepared.

The complex is also to include courts for tennis, football, volleyball, and padel, as well as mini golf, paintball, and a rope park. The evening program will take place, among other venues, in an outdoor theatre with a capacity of 1,500 spectators.

The hu Eraclea Mare resort will offer more than 30 restaurants, bars, cafés and other food and beverage outlets. The offer will be complemented by shops and services for guests’ everyday needs.

For families with children and visitors who want to combine a seaside stay with sport and entertainment, extensive holiday facilities will be created. The complex will also include direct access to the beach in Eraclea Mare, which regularly receives the Blue Flag award for water cleanliness, service quality, and coastal care.

Some sports facilities, restaurants, and services are not expected to be reserved exclusively for overnight guests. Local residents and other visitors to Eraclea Mare may also be able to use them. The conditions and extent of public access will become clear once the resort is operational.

More options for walking trips and cycling

Eraclea Mare and its surroundings offer very good conditions for cycling. The area is mostly flat, and you can set off by bike along the coast, to the Piave River, through the surrounding countryside, or towards other resorts.

The new resort will offer more than 10 kilometers of walking and cycling routes. These are to connect the accommodation areas, sports facilities, and the surrounding landscape. A cycling connection towards Eraclea Mare is also planned, along with a bicycle rental and service.

If the planned routes connect safely to the existing network of roads and cycle paths, they can make it easier for visitors to move between the resort, the resort center, the beach, and the surrounding nature. The bicycle could thus become one of the most convenient ways to get around the area during the high season.

How the changes will affect the Eraclea Mare area

More accommodation also means more guests who may visit restaurants, cafés, shops, bike rentals, and other businesses in Eraclea Mare. For local services, this can be an opportunity to reach new customers and expand the offer.

However, it will be important to see how many guests from the new resort also visit the center of Eraclea Mare and explore the surrounding area. The extensive complex will offer the most common services on-site and may thus partly function as a standalone holiday destination.

Until now, Eraclea Mare has retained the atmosphere of a smaller seaside town with family businesses, quieter streets, and direct contact with nature. It is precisely the connection between the new resort and the existing resort that will shape how the whole area feels after 2027.

More visitors, more cars

Thousands of new accommodation units will also bring more cars to the area. This may be most noticeable on summer weekends, when access roads to the Venetian coast are already very busy.

New access roads are therefore being built around Valle Ossi, and junction modifications and roundabouts are also planned. For visitors, it will be important whether the new infrastructure provides easy access, sufficient parking, and safe connections between the resort, Eraclea Mare, and the beach.

Walking and cycling routes can play an important role. If it is possible to leave the car at the accommodation and move safely on foot or by bike, this can help reduce traffic within the resort during the high season.

Laguna del Mort: natural wealth

In the immediate vicinity of the new resort lies one of the most interesting natural places in the eastern part of the Venetian coast. Laguna del Mort was formed after the Piave River changed its course, and today it is surrounded by dunes, a pine forest, wetlands, and a natural beach.

The lagoon and the surrounding pine stands are part of the European network of protected areas, Natura 2000. The area is valuable thanks to its coastal, lagoon, and dune habitats and the presence of rare plant and animal species. Visitors are drawn to the open landscape and its distinct character compared to manicured urban beaches.

Higher visitor numbers may bring greater pressure on the natural beach, dunes, pine forest, and the lagoon itself. It will therefore be important to guide visitors along marked paths, protect sensitive parts of the coast, and provide regular care for the entire area.

Visitors should stick to marked paths, not enter protected dunes, and respect the rules in force on the natural beach. Considerate behavior can help preserve the environment that brings people back to Laguna del Mort.

Will Eraclea Mare keep its atmosphere?

Hu Eraclea Mare can significantly change the position of what has so far been a quieter resort on the Venetian coast’s tourist map. New accommodation capacity and extensive facilities will attract a broader range of visitors to the area.

The question remains as to the extent to which resort guests will also use local restaurants, shops, and other services. It is precisely the connection between the new complex and the existing resort that will influence whether hu Eraclea Mare becomes a natural part of it or functions as an almost standalone holiday destination.

The resort is being built by the Italian company Human Company, which, in its projects, focuses on connecting tourist complexes with the surrounding landscape and on the more sustainable use of natural resources. It can therefore be expected that protecting the surrounding environment will be part of hu Eraclea Mare’s operation. How the planned measures will work under high visitor numbers will only become clear through day-to-day operations.

The first guests are expected to arrive in May 2027. The following seasons will show how significantly the new resort will transform Eraclea Mare and whether it can preserve its existing character.

In Conclusion

The development of tourism cannot be stopped. Yet Eraclea Mare and Laguna del Mort are also associated with a certain sense of nostalgia and a natural concern about the future. The new resort may function as a holiday destination in its own right. At full capacity, however, it could welcome around three times as many tourists over the course of a season as currently visit Eraclea Mare in an entire year. If most of these guests also head to the local beaches, visitor numbers in this so far peaceful seaside resort will increase significantly. In any case, a new phase in the development of tourism across the entire area is beginning.

There is also considerable curiosity about the future appearance of Valle Ossi and the integration of the original agricultural buildings into the new resort. If their connection to the area’s history can be preserved, this could become a truly fascinating place.

Laguna del Mort and its surroundings have an unmistakable genius loci. It is not something that can be described in a holiday offer or listed among the resort’s services. It is a feeling that can only truly be perceived when one is actually there. Given the location of hu Eraclea Mare, it may naturally become part of its guests’ stay.
